With the slogan "add value, build the future', the Taula d'entitats del Tercer Sector Social de Catalunya had organised the III Social Third Sector Conference the 24th and 25th March 2011 at the Barcelona International Convention Centre with the to strengthen the identity, values and skills of the Third Sector, called for more and better public social policies in a context of economic crisis and strengthen the alliance of the Third Social Sector with public authorities and other stakeholders.
2217 delegates participated in this third edition of the Congress, and 355 students visited the Entities Fair that took place at the same venue of the Congress with over 60 stands. The Congress had 234 speakers.
The Congress was inaugurated on 24 March by the Government MHPresident, sr. Artur Mas, the Mayor of Barcelona, sr. Jordi Hereu, the chairman of the council, sr. Antoni Fogué, and the President of Taula d'entitats del Tercer Sector Social de Catalunya, Mrs.Angels Guiteras.
The closing conference took place on Friday 25th, with the final reading of the Manifesto of the Congress by the writer Marius Serra, and with the parliaments of the H. Minister of Social Welfare and Family, sr. Josep Lluis Cleries, and the President of Taula d'entitats del Tercer Sector Social de Catalunya, Mrs.Angels Guiteras.
The manifesto of the Congress includes the following six demands addressed to the Catalan government:
* Maintain the financial investment in social policies
* Expand and implement new social laws passed.
* Promote policies ambitious anti-poverty
* Improve the tools for collaboration with organizations of the Third Sector
* To provide a legal framework and financial institutions of the Third Sector
* Recognizg the Third Sector as a social agent.
